Quilts at the Smithsonian!!!

One of the few baby quilts - mid 1800s Drawers and drawers of quilts!!!!

Martha Washington's quilt top - what a great find!!!

A quilt made by a 13 yr old girl in the late 1800s all silks - how amazing!!!

On October 6th I had the chance to visit the American History Museum and take a "behind the scenes" tour of the quilts that are housed there. Marti Phelps was our "tour guide" through the centuries with regard to the quilts they have and the stories that go along with them. I went with 6 other ladies and we had a great time! After the tour we ate lunch and checked out the Julia Child exhibit at the Museum. Took a detour into the gift shop and got some cool science project books for the boys....can't leave empty handed!!
